Barnabas and Julia enter the drawing room of the Old House. Barnabas has aged very fast. Barnabas accuses Julia of doing this on purpose because she wants his affections. Julia tells him that she told him that she needed more time to get ready. Barnabas says he no one longer has confidence in Julia's work.
